MEET RICHARD GAUTHIER
Richard Gauthier has spent more than two decades working directly with students, families and schools throughout the Central Okanagan School District. His experience spans elementary, middle and secondary schools, giving him a firsthand understanding of the people, challenges and opportunities within our public education system.
A Career Built Around Students.
Richard’s connection to public education is deeply personal. For more than 22 years, he worked within our local School District supporting students and families at the elementary, middle and secondary levels.
As an Indigenous Student Advocate and the School District’s first Indigenous Wellness Worker, Richard spent years listening to students and families, helping them navigate challenges and ensuring they felt heard and supported. He currently serves on the School District’s Indigenous Education Council.
That experience shaped how Richard believes leadership should work: listen carefully, ask difficult questions, work collaboratively and always consider how decisions will affect the students, families, teachers and support staff at the heart of our schools.
This Community Is Home.
Richard has called Kelowna home for 26 years. His wife and children are graduates of Kelowna Secondary School, and today he is a proud Papère to grandchildren attending elementary school in our district.
His connection to the Central Okanagan extends far beyond his professional career. Richard has spent years coaching, mentoring, volunteering and serving his community.
